Woman in emotional pain

Trauma & PTSD Counseling

What happened is over. But sometimes your mind and body haven't gotten the message.

You may know exactly what happened and how it changed you. Or you may simply know that something from your past is still affecting your life today.

You might feel constantly on guard. Have intrusive memories or nightmares. Avoid people, places, or situations that bring things back. Shut down when emotions become intense. Struggle to trust. React strongly to things that other people don't seem to understand.

Or maybe you're simply tired of carrying something you've worked very hard to put behind you.

You don't have to keep organizing your life around what happened.

Trauma can change the way you experience safety, relationships, and yourself. Reactions that seem frustrating or confusing now often made sense when your brain was trying to protect you. Therapy can help you understand those responses without allowing them to continue running your life.

We'll start with what's hurting now.

I won't expect you to walk into my office and immediately tell me the worst things that have ever happened to you. Trust takes time, and good trauma therapy respects that.

But we also won't spend forever circling the past without working toward change.

Together, we'll look at how your experiences are affecting you today, what keeps you stuck, and what you want to be different. That may mean working on anxiety and hypervigilance, avoidance, difficult emotions, boundaries, relationship patterns, shame, trust, or learning to feel safe again.

The goal isn't to erase your history.

It's to help your history stop deciding so much about your present.

You are more than what happened to you. There is a life happening now that deserves your attention too.

If trauma or PTSD is keeping you from feeling safe, connected, or fully present in your life, come talk to me. My trauma training helps me work with both the original experience and the ways it may still appear in your relationships, reactions, and sense of safety. I provide trauma and PTSD counseling in Colorado Springs at a pace that respects your nervous system without leaving you stuck in endless retelling.

We'll start where you are and work toward where you want to be.
